As some of you have noticed, I've been slacking on the blogging bit and with good reason. Behind the scenes I've been working on improving my website to serve the food allergy, GFCF, celiac, gluten-free and delayed food allergies (food sensitivities) communities as well as the educational professionals, the physicians and other health care practitioners and the many other groups who use this site as a resource. Yes, I do listen to you!! While the site is improved, I've maintained my trademark pink and green colors, the flowers and fun design. I have also maintained most of the content. Here is a summary of what is new:
1. A mailing list you can sign up for (YES, I know - it's taken a long time. But you asked for it - you got it!) A word here about signing up for my mailing list. I know how busy I am, and I know most of you are just as busy. I don't intend to clutter your in-box with a lot of useless information. I'm too busy for that and so are you!!
2. Resources - This is a start! Let me know what resources you would like to see added to this page!
3. Bookmark - Yes, I know you technically superior users have been waiting for the ability to "digg it", or let other sites know how much you like my site. Now, you can let all of your social networks that this is a site you think is worthwhile.
4. Recipes that print out to the size of a recipe card. So you want to cut them out and put them in your recipe card box? Yes, I listened. The recipes now will make that much easier. More recipes are being added, so if your favorites aren't up yet - they will be soon! Plus, don't forget to get the newest recipes from my blog!!
5. Helpful HMO Info. - This is a document to help you go after health insurance coverage if you have an HMO!! It is a document you can download (yes, for free).
6. Medical Thesis Paper - This is a 42-page (single-spaced) medical paper that I wrote to make sure my HMO was required to cover my daughter's life-saving medical treatments when she was just 2-years old!! It has about 107 medical footnotes and it is what I wrote as a novice. I could write a book now, and a much, much stronger medical paper than I did then, back in 2004. While I did not gain coverage from writing the paper, I did learn an extraordinary amount (as evidenced by the paper), and this medical paper has been valuable to parents and professionals alike.
7. A Brief History of Food Allergies- While this document was on the previous site, it has been dressed up and looks a million times better, thanks to support from our new web designer, Bill Even. I think it rocks!! What do you think? If you have never downloaded or read this brief paper, let me tell you that the people who have read it have been amazed and shocked and told me that they loved it!!
8. Testimonials - Yes, you asked for them, and here are some!! I am so happy that so many of you love my cookbook enough to write such glowing testimonials. I am really, really humbled by your kind words. You have no idea how humbling it is to hear what you have to say about my book. I set out to help people with food issues with my cookbook, and you have made that abundantly clear that I am doing it, and better than most other cookbooks. Thank you so much. You can leave a testimonial through the contact us page. Just put your comments in the comment block. We'll add you to the on-line and print testimonials.
9. Media Kit - Some of you have asked for media materials to send to your local newspaper, radio or other media. Ask and you shall receive. Feel free to download items from the media kit and send them to your favorite media (print, TV or radio) or to share them with your favorite on-line site. How we will get the celiac diagnosis rate from 3-5% up to a respectable 50% plus is by us working in harmony and partnership! The more people we get diagnosed with celiac, the more lives we save. And not to mention educating parents, teachers and others about the wide variety of health issues that can be caused by food!
10. Google Ads - Yes, I have finally caved. What made me cave? Probably reading that January 2009, Inc. magazine article about Markus Frind. He's the young man who created and owns the Plenty of Fish website. Markus Frind makes about $10 million from his advertising. He sells no products on his free dating website. Yes, that article made me re-think my stance about Google Ads and advertising in general.
I'm working on lots of new stuff, so come back and visit or sign up for my blog if you want the newest news right away. Thank you for your kind words, your suggestions and ideas and for your love and support. Together we can help a lot of people.
Love,
Lisa
